The Pope just got his very own iPod nano, engraved with: 'To His Holiness, Benedict XVI'. They got his title right, but the playlist? Besides the Vatican Radio podcast, they've got Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky. Puhleese. We know JPII went for a little bit of break dancing in his day, lets see BXVI take it up a notch in the Vatican.

SD-based, display-free MP3 player

We realize there's a market (albeit a small one) for SD-based MP3 players, though we have to say we're not exactly surprised that most of the companies making them have names like Lexar and SanDisk. Or Delkin, now that the company -- better known for its e-Film media -- has launched its first MP3 player, the Revel. Unfortunately, Delkin seems to have missed the lesson that SanDisk has learned, namely that to succeed in this niche, you've gotta make it either cheaper or better, and the Revel -- a display-free player that goes for $109 with a 1GB SD card -- is neither (though if you've got a pile of SD cards lying around and want to find something to do with them, you can always pick up the 256MB Revel for about $50).

Eclipse AVN6600 puts two DVD players in your dash

Until we checked out the AVN6600 from Eclipse, we didn't think we needed a dash-mounted DVD player. Now that we've seen it, we're convinced: we need two. The AVN6600 not only puts two DVD players front-and-center in your ride, but also includes an integrated GPS unit with a 6.5-inch display. The idea is that one DVD player can be dedicated to serving up maps for the GPS, while the second one can be used for audio. And since the DVD player is MP3 and WMA compatible, that's a lot of audio. The second player can also drive a rear-seat video display. Of course, you could also use the nav display for DVD video and skip the GPS, but that could interfere just a little bit with your driving

Wolverine intros 120GB MVP 9120 PMP

Wolverine has just unveiled the latest addition to their MVP line of kid-designed (we're just guessin') portable media players. The MVP 9120 comes loaded with a 120GB drive, which Wolverine says makes it the largest-capacity portable media player on the market at the moment. The unit also includes a 7-in-1 memory card reader and has video out so you can connect it to a projector or TV. It's also apparently the only device on the market that'll work with 33 different RAW-type camera files with EXIF information -- which may be enough for some to put up with the rather unique choice of colors.

Oakley Thump Two

The Thump 2's are quite weighty and the first time you put them on its clear that they are not for the shy retiring type, these say look at me and believe us people will, even without realising that they are more than just a pair of shades. The dark black plastic looks quite nice and the wrap around style make them reasonably comfortable even when wearing them for prolonged periods, we did note that they do obscure peripheral vision making them less suitable for driving or for use on a bike.
