Sony's new E-series flash Walkmans get real

Sony's new E-series flash Walkmans get real: "
Not that we really had any doubt at this point, but those new Sony E-series flash players from last week? Yeah, they're real. No new info on Sony's official site though, not so far as we can tell: same 512MB / 1 / 2GB capacities as before with optional FM tuner, MP3 and WMA playback, and a 28 hour battery (using ATRAC, of course) with a 3 minute quick charge for 3 hours playback (again, probably using ATRAC), and black, violet, pink, blue, silver, and the 'very exclusive lime green.' Yeah, whatever. So where are our CE-Ps, Sony?

HDTV for Free with Spectrum LP49-DTV Antenna

HDTV for Free with Spectrum LP49-DTV Antenna: "Yes, there are HDTV signals floating through the air, and you don't have to pay for satellite or cable to receive them with the Spectrum LP49-DTV indoor digital TV antenna. The company says the antenna can be used anywhere the UHF standard is supported, and can receive digital or HDTV signals and feed them into a set-top box or DTV-ready TV.

It won't pick up HBO, but for network TV, it might be able to do the trick. It was not mentioned why this device is better than good old rabbit ears, but it sure as hell looks cool.

Samsung Delays BD-P1000 Blu-Ray Player, Adds 1080p Playback

Samsung Delays BD-P1000 Blu-Ray Player, Adds 1080p Playback: "Samsung announced its BD-P1000 Blu-ray player will be delayed by a month, but the good news is the player will be capable of 1080p playback. The company insisted that its new June 25 ship date, although not quite as early as the May 23 day it previously set for the release, would still be the first Blu-ray disk player on the market, beating the release of rival players from Sony, Pioneer, LG and Panasonic. In a statement, Samsung said the reason for the delay was to complete compatibility testing with disks that will become available in late April. This from Samsung:

'Two new features have been added to our BD-P1000 model without changing the expected $999 street price. The BD-P1000 will have a native 1080p output via HDMI for Blu-Ray software titles that are digitally mastered in 1920 x 1080 resolution and up to 1080p upconversion of conventional DVDs through the HDMI digital interface. Additionally, we have upgraded the built-in 9-in-2 multi memory card interface to 11-in-2 by adding support for Mini-SD and Memory Stick Pro Duo formats. By including a memory card interface into a Blu-Ray player, the native high definition resolution contained in 3MP or larger digital still pictures can be enjoyed on a high definition television.'

Sony MDR-EX90SL Earphones Fit a 13.5mm Driver into a 9mm Hole

Sony MDR-EX90SL Earphones Fit a 13.5mm Driver into a 9mm Hole: "
Paying close attention laws of physics, Sony created a pair of earphone drivers that are large enough to give you big sound but have a smaller swiveling tip that's 9mm in diameter, just able to fit into your ear canal. These 13.5mm drivers are able to inject 5-25,000Hz of audio goodness into your skull, according to Sony.

Heck, that's a lot of sound, where the lowest 5Hz number sounds like a rhythmic ticking noise and that 25,000Hz frequency is so high that only dogs can hear it. The question is, what do these mini-maxi earpieces sound like between those two extraordinary numbers? The company says it will release the new phones on May 10 for $104.

iKey Transfers Audio to MP3 or WAV

iKey Transfers Audio to MP3 or WAV: "iKey lets you skip a step or two if you want to transform analog audio onto wav or MP3 files, a convenient way to turn vinyl into digital. Plug in your left and right channel on one side, and plug in your iPod or USB key into the other, and this little box changes analog into digital without a lot of effort. Save your files in your choice 128, 192 or 256kbps bit rates on MP3, or go with uncompressed .wav files. All those old records better be worth it, though, because this little box costs $230.
