MPGlass 230M: Movie Glasses for the Masses

MPGlass 230M: Movie Glasses for the Masses: "Some may argue that nothing compares to sitting in a movie theater and watching the latest Hollywood action film on the big screen. For those of you who prefer, however, not to be in the presence of loud-mouthed hooligans blabbing on cell phones, sticky floors, and high snack prices, nothing compares to watching a film in the comfort of your own home. To add a little spice to your theater, check out the MPGlass 230M. It's a pair of glasses that plugs into a DVD player, VCR, or game console and fools your eyes and brain into thinking that you're looking at a 30-inch screen from two meters (6.5 feet in real measurements) away. Stereo sound envelops your very being via the supplied headphones. It'll set you back about $523 (or £300 if you're in the UK, from where the glasses originate).

Concrete Revolution specs?

Concrete Revolution specs?: "
Just like the Windows Vista release date, the rumored specs for the Nintendo Revolution continue to both change and disappoint us. IGN has posted some new info from sources in the game development industry who supposedly possess official Nintendo documentation and claim to have run benchmarks on the IBM-supplied Broadway CPU and ATI's Hollywood GPU in dev kits that are similar in design to final production units. Originally we had heard that Revolution would sport a 1.8GHz processor, and possibly as high as 2.5GHz -- the new figure, according to IGN's sources, is a rather pokey 729MHz (compared to 485MHz on the GameCube, 733MHz for the original Xbox, three cores running at 3.2GHz on the 360, and the deified Cell processor in the PS3, although direct comparisons are unfair due to the different architectures). Meanwhile, the supposed 600MHz ATI chip is now speced at only 243MHz (with 3MB of texture memory), which is a decent bump over the 'Cube's 162MHz GPU, and in the same league as Xbox 1's 233MHz. Total RAM is also rather disappointing -- only 88MB -- but all of these numbers, even if true, are totally in line with what the company has been saying all along: rather than fighting a next-gen console war, they want to provide a unique gaming experience based around an innovative controller in a wallet-friendly package"

Samsung's 2GB SBH-300 Bluetooth MP3 player

Samsung's 2GB SBH-300 Bluetooth MP3 player: "

Samsung officially announced their 2GB SBH-300 Bluetooth MP3 player. Now, hang with us here 'cause this is not your usual player. As you'd expect, it features the A2DP stereo Bluetooth profile but ships with what appear to be wired-headphones with in-line remote. Out of the box, however, you can pair the SBH-300 with your bluetooth enabled cellphone allowing the SBH-300 to pull double-duty as a bulky wireless headset. The SBH-300 features a 262k color OLED LCD, FM Tuner, voice recorder, photo viewer, and microSD expansion if that 2GB ain't enough. If this is your idea of a good time, then you'll need about $236 to bring it home when it goes up for pre-order starting next month.

Panasonic's DMB-BD10 Blu-ray Disc player coming in September

Panasonic's DMB-BD10 Blu-ray Disc player coming in September:

Panasonic just announced their first Blu-ray Disc player -- the DMB-BD10. The new player includes the EZ-Sync HDAVI (AKA, Panny's VIERA Link) control function allowing users to control any HDMI connected device from a single remote. The November release is meant to coincide with the US release of Panasonic's first 1080p plasma TVs. Pricing has yet to be finalized but they tell us it should drop this September for 'less than $1500.' Well, we should hope so considering the Samsung and Sony players are expected to come in at about a grand.

The Plug from Koss Seals Off Your Ear Canal

The Plug from Koss Seals Off Your Ear Canal: "When you're using in-ear phones, the seal is everything, and Koss is attempting to capitalize on that phenomenon with The Plug, earbuds with shape-shifting hydrophillic urethane tips that conform to the shape of your ear canal. At just $14.95, it seems impossible that these earphones will sound very good, but the idea of a form-fitting seal is certainly on the right track. We've tried other earphones with similar characteristics, and if you get that seal just right, the result is skull-pounding bass and crystal-clear highs. Koss claims frequency response of 10 to 20,000 Hz with these babies. Yeah, right.

Imation Clip Flash Drives

Imation Clip Flash Drives: "I'm not making much pee-pee over these, but it's nice to see some good departures from the old fashioned thumb-drive design. These Imation drives come in multiple colors and attach to your person with a caribiner clip. Amazon? Naw. Cute? Sure. Priced from $29.99 for a 256MB model up to $119.99 for a 2GB model.

Nextar 7-Inch Player: Cheap, But Nice Feature List

Nextar 7-Inch Player: Cheap, But Nice Feature List: "MacVision has changed its name to Nextar and now offers this rock-bottom priced 7-inch wide-screen portable media player that has a 40GB hard drive that can play back and record MPEG4 video. The list of file types that it can play is impressive, including DivX, MPEG, MPEG4, AVI, DAT, VOB, MP3, WMA, WAV, JPEG, BMP and GIF files. If that 40GB hard drive isn't big enough, the 4-pound player has an SD card slot for more storage, and it communicates with your PC via USB 2.0.

Sony Walkman E-series screenless flash players

Sony Walkman E-series screenless flash players: "

Sure, Sony may have taken a page out of the old screenless audio player book on their new E-series players, but hey, from the sound of it these things may have some decent features and storage to 'em. Though to the best of our knowledge they haven't been announced yet (which means, of course, they may not necessarily be real or materialize), it looks like these new E-series flash players may have an FM tuner option and come in 512MB (NW-E002), 1GB (E003), and 2GB capacities (E005) for up to 1,400 Kronor (about $180 US). Very doable, if you ask us."
